Message NA since 2000, and my car hasn't been in tip-top during all that time, and I've never had a problem. Of course, now that it's in great shape (replaced PCV's, O2 sensors, fuel filter and dampener, replaced vacuum lines, fuel lines, etc.), the strength of the ECU starts to emerge. I can't imagine what would be "less forgiving" about it. The timing is moved a bit, but I've never experienced any detonation or anything. Of course, I always always fill up with 92 or better.
